How to Perform a Proper Lithium Battery Installation: A Step-by-Step Guide
Plan a lithium battery installation around the exact battery, charging equipment and loads. Use this checklist to prepare the work with a qualified installer; the product manuals and approved system design must determine the connection sequence and settings.
1. Collect the correct documentation
Record battery model numbers, quantities, nominal system voltage, charger and inverter models, and intended use. Obtain current installation instructions and written confirmation of any proposed series or parallel configuration. Use our capacity-planning guide to organize your load requirements.
2. Confirm the mounting location
Check dimensions, weight support, securing arrangements, permitted orientation and access for inspection. Ask the installer to verify temperature limits, required clearances, moisture exposure and enclosure suitability. Do not assume that a battery approved for one environment is suitable for another.
Manufacturer installation documentation illustrates how mounting and connection requirements vary by product. Its numerical limits are not specifications for Gree batteries.
3. Review wiring and protection
Have the installer specify cables, connectors, fuses, disconnects and any grounding arrangements for the complete system. Confirm polarity, terminal hardware and the battery manufacturer's torque requirements before work begins. Use the documented isolation procedure for every connected power source.
Do not open a sealed battery, bypass its BMS or change protection settings to force compatibility. Ask support about any monitoring setup or commissioning procedure required for the selected model.
4. Check charging compatibility
Review each charging source, including shore power, solar and vehicle charging where applicable. Confirm supported voltage settings, current limits and temperature restrictions against the battery manual. Do not transfer a charging profile from a different chemistry or battery model without approval.
5. Commission and document the installation
Ask the installer to complete the manufacturer-approved inspection and commissioning checks before routine use. Keep a record of settings, wiring layout, protection devices and the shutdown procedure. Retain manuals, purchase records and warranty information.
If compatibility or installation details are unclear, send the battery and equipment model numbers, proposed layout and intended use to Gree Battery support before proceeding.
